HOW DO I CHANGE MAJOR?

Students can now request changes to their academic plan of study (major/minor/certificate) by clicking on the link Request an Academic Plan Change within their myWCU. To add more than two majors, please email the Registrar's Office.

DO CLASSES TRANSFER TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH MAJOR?

Yes, most General Education classes will transfer to any major on campus and even many classes taken at other institutions have equivalences at WCU. Additionally, science courses such as Biology, Microbiology, Ecology, Geology and General Chemistry, transfer directly to the program.

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE SALARY WITH A BACHELOR DEGREE IN ENV. HEALTH?

As of 2021 the average salary of our students after graduation with no prior experience is $55-60K per year. After 2 to 3 years of experience and with the addition of certifications, our undergraduate students can make well above $70K/year working as Environmental Health and Safety Specialists for consulting firms or general industry.

I AM INTERESTED IN SUSTAINABILITY BUT I DON'T WANT TO CHANGE MAJOR.

Consider a minor in Environmental Health. The minor complements any major and can add several aspects of sustainability issues to your current major. You can find more information on the minor in the curriculum section.

CAN I COMPLETE THE MPH ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH TRACK WHILE WORKING?

Yes, most graduate-level classes in the MPH program are offered once a week in the late afternoon/evening so our graduate students are able to finish the program while working full time. The program is two years for full-time students but can be completed at your own pace to accommodate for more demanding work schedules.
